How many calories should YOU eat?
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of energy that your body will use to
maintain vital functions such as breathing. BMR can therefore be used to see how
many calories you would need to consume each day to fulfil your body's vital functions.

How do you calculate Basal Metabolic Rate?
To work out your own personal BMR several factors need to be known, these being;
- Height
- Age
- Weight
- Gender
These four factors can be placed into a simple BMR calculator to give you a
suggested figure. This figure will be the amount of calories an individual will need to
consume to maintain the body's vital functions. Calculating this figure is important as
it can be a great starting point/baseline if you're looking to either add or lose weight.
