How to Save Money in Fitness?
As you may have read or experienced personally having a passion for fitness can be expensive. Food, supplements, personal training, equipment and clothing are all associated costs to get started and maintaining your fitness journey.
Within this article I'll be outlining two ways I've been able to keep up my passion for fitness throughout time as a University student and as a graduate when income is very restricted.
Top Tip 1:
Sign up to as many supplement newsletters as possible and get yourself a student discount account if you're at University or in College. Popular sports nutrition companies such as MyProtein, BulkPowders and Dolphin Fitness often offer discount on specific product groups e.g. protein powders, creatine, pills and tablets etc.
These discount codes can range anywhere between 15 and 55% off and the two top companies (MyProtein and BulkPowders) will often copy what the other is doing to keep themselves competitive. My advice, NEVER buy your supplements at full price.
Top Tip 2:
Buy meat in bulk from your local butchers or online through the retailer MuscleFood. The price per kilo on popular items such as lean chicken breast is lower at local butchers than supermarkets. For example, most butchers offer 5kg chicken breast for £25 (MuscleFood - 5kg for £27) whereas at Tesco the same amount would be £29.25 (as of 19th September). Although this price difference may seem marginal the savings will build up over time with dietary staples.
